Is it Time to Get Dental Veneers?

closeup of woman smillingVeneers are cosmetic restorations that we use to hide the healthy teeth behind them. We can adjust the shape and size of each one so that it fits with the others, changing the entire appearance of your smile.

Depending on the type of veneer that you get, you can enhance the appearance of your teeth in just one or two appointments.

Why Get Veneers?

Investing in dental veneers is a personal decision that people do for a variety of different reasons. Here are some of the most common examples of why our patients decide to get a smile makeover:

  • Embarrassed by their smile
  • An upcoming job interview
  • Severe wear, stain or chips
  • Irregular tooth shape
  • Milestones such as weddings or graduations

Types of Veneers

Not all veneers are created equal. Of the two different types that we offer, each one provides a significant advantage in its design. The one you choose is based on how many teeth need to be made over, your timeline and budget.

Traditional Porcelain Veneers — We prefer porcelain when you need to have several veneers made at once. Porcelain is durable and attractive, making it best for cases involving multiple teeth in your smile zone. The texture and components of the material make it so that your new set of veneers looks as close to a natural smile as possible.

Composite Veneers — Tooth-coloured resin can be shaped over specific teeth for what we call a “chairside” veneer. The same-day restoration isn’t as durable or translucent as porcelain, but it’s useful when you need to quickly mask over a tooth or two with surface flaws (in a short amount of time).
