Mermaid Beach Skin Rejuvenation
Micro-needling is the perfect pick-me-up for skin that’s lost its youthful plump, elastic tone. The experience uses hundreds of extremely small needles to induce tiny perforations in the surface of the skin, triggering a self-healing process that produces new collagen and elastic around each prick.
During a micro-needling treatment, the body interprets the tiny irritations as injuries, rushing new tissues to the area that normally take place during our immune system’s healing process. As new collagen and elastic are produced, your treated skin becomes plumper and smoother on the surface. Microperforations also make it easier for your skin to absorb the skin care products you apply to those areas.
Is Micro-needling Right for You?
You may want to consider this non-surgical facial treatment if you’re hoping to:
Lift or tighten skin in a certain area of your face
Manage “creping” and thinning skin textures
Treat visible scars to make them less noticeable
Reduce the size and visibility of pores
Treat dark spots and even out skin tone
Improve results from your current skin care routine
What to Expect During Your Appointment
As the name implies, micro-needling can sometimes lead to some mild discomfort and irritation if performed without any type of anaesthetic. To make your visit at Mermaid Smiles more comfortable, we’ll apply a numbing cream to the area that’s being treated. Next, special hyaluronic skin cream is applied to help the skin respond as optimally as possible. Finally, tiny needles are rolled over the skin, causing shallow punctures ranging anywhere from 0.5-3mm deep. Even delicate under-eye areas can be treated!
Avoid any cosmetic products or skin creams for the remainder of the day, aside from the one used during your procedure. For the next two days, apply a protective sunscreen and avoid sun exposure, as skin tends to be more sensitive. Products like retinol or AHA should also be avoided.
